Tyres
At Audi VW Centre, we supply and fit tyres for Audi, Volkswagen, SEAT, and Skoda vehicles, and can advise on the right choice for your car, your budget, and how you use it.
The legal minimum tread depth in the UK is 1.6mm, but performance and safety, particularly in wet conditions, start to drop off well before you reach that limit. We’d generally recommend considering replacement once tread nears 2 to 3mm, and if you experience any of these signs:
Not every tyre suits every vehicle, which is why we take into account your car’s specific size and load requirements, along with how you typically drive. We stock a range of tyre brands to suit different budgets, without compromising on safety.
Poor wheel alignment is one of the most common causes of uneven or premature tyre wear. Using our Hunter 3D wheel alignment equipment, we can check your car’s alignment accurately and correct it where needed, helping new tyres last as long as they should.
When you have tyres fitted with us, this includes fitting, balancing, and a valve if required, along with a check of your tyre pressures and general condition. We’ll also let you know if we spot anything else that needs attention while your car is with us.
As specialists in Audi, Volkswagen, SEAT, and Skoda models, we understand the tyre sizes and specifications these cars need, including run-flat and reinforced options where applicable. Combined with accurate alignment equipment on site, this means you’re getting the right tyre, fitted and set up correctly, rather than a generic recommendation.
It’s worth checking tyre pressures at least once a month, and always before a longer journey, as incorrect pressure affects handling, fuel economy, and tyre wear.
This depends on the wear and age of your remaining tyres. In some cases, particularly on four-wheel drive models, replacing tyres in pairs or as a full set is recommended to avoid uneven strain on the drivetrain.
Not necessarily, but if your old tyres showed signs of uneven wear, it’s worth having the alignment checked to prevent the same issue happening again.
This varies depending on driving style, road conditions, and vehicle type, but most tyres last between 20,000 and 40,000 miles, or should be replaced after 6 to 10 years regardless of tread depth.
As a member of the IMI and part of the 1Tec Auto Hub network, Audi VW Centre adheres to recognised industry standards and stays up to date with the latest manufacturer training and technical developments.
